November 22, 2022 Dorset Tech

A big welcome to the new families who have recently joined preschool, we would also like to thank parents/carers for aiding traffic flow and ensuring you do not arrive in the school car park before 8.50 every day after this was becoming a problem last term.  We really do appreciate your continued support.

Committee Meeting

Our next Committee Meeting will be on Tuesday 7th February 2023 at 7.15pm in preschool.  We would like to welcome both our continuing committee members together with our new members, it was great to see so many new faces at the AGM, we are so grateful for the overwhelming support after the initial struggle to gain new members.  Thanks again, without you we would not be here.

Launching Start for Life, the new home learning environment (HLE) campaign

The National Literacy Trust are working with the Department for Education and Department of Health in this new Start for Life campaign.  Start for Life is designed to encourage parents to chat, play and read more with their children, developing their communication, language and literacy skills before starting school.

This user-friendly and engaging campaign promotes the benefits of chatting, reading, and playing with children.  Start for Life includes simple activities parents can do at home during everyday routines.   It reassures parents that it’s the small things that parents can do every day that will help children learn. You can chat, play, or read with your child on the way to nursery, on public transport, while you’re making a meal or even in the supermarket.

Funding

If your child is funded in the Spring Term your funding form will be sent home for completion.  Please remember to enter your child’s name as per their Birth Certificate and also fill in your complete postal address as per your Council Tax bill, this is to ensure there is no confusion when Dorset Council come to check the details and allocate the funding.

Shoes

We have noticed that some children are coming to preschool in lace-up shoes, we would be really grateful if you could send your child in either slip-on or velcro shoes so that they can take them off and put them on independently.  We are there to help if a child finds this a challenge, but it’s a great skill to start to learn early, especially if they are moving on to school soon.
